Two Detentions Following London Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Incident

Placeholder Heathrow Airport scene
This incident resulted in the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park.

Two more people are now in custody related to a robbery at London's Heathrow Airport in which 21 people sustained injuries by a substance believed to be an irritant spray, according to police.

A man, 24, was arrested in Lambeth for suspected robbery and assault and a woman, 23 was arrested on suspicion of conspiring to commit a robbery. They both are still being held, authorities confirmed.

The arrests come after an investigation into an attack at the multi-level parking garage at Terminal 3 on Sunday. Before the incident, a pair of female travelers had stolen from them their suitcases upon exiting a parking garage elevator.

A toddler aged three was among the those hurt during the incident. Five people were taken to the hospital for medical care and were later released.

Police arrested a 31-year-old man on suspicion of robbery and assault near the scene. He was subsequently released pending further inquiries while inquiries continue.

Authorities were called at about 8:10 in the morning GMT following reports of several individuals injured by a noxious substance thought to be pepper spray.

The attack - which authorities stated was a standalone incident and not considered an act of terror - resulted in train delays and the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 car park briefly.
